Do you remember playing with Legos as a child? There was something magical about opening that big plastic bin and dumping those little multi-colored stackable bricks out onto the living room carpet. A child could spend hours lost in a world of their own creation, making everything from firehouses and farms to rocket ships and space stations out of Legos.
Many of us who are adults now first discovered a love of art, design and architecture by playing with Legos when we were little. And just because we might be a little too old now to sprawl on the rug for hours creating our own little brightly hued plastic universe does not mean that we can’t still partake of the magic of Legos, or that we can’t share with our children the joys we enjoyed when we were young.

Legoland Windsor is a theme park located in Windsor, Berkshire in England. It opened in 1996 and features Lego themed rides, Lego models, and Lego-building workshops. It is geared mainly towards children aged 3 to 12, but intended to be enjoyed by the entire family. The park features such attractions as roller coasters, a log flume, a theatre, an imagination center where visitors can watch the Lego displays being created, and many amazing and detailed Lego sculptures. There are also souvenir shops where you can purchase Lego merchandise and kits.

Legoland is open from mid-March to the beginning of November but it is closed on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays in May, September and October. During certain times of the year, the park operates on a variable schedule which is designed to coincide with school holidays in England. The park opens at 10am and closes at 5pm except on certain special event days and weekends in the summer when it remains open until 6.

If you loved Legos as a child, and if you want to share that love with your child, Legoland is a must-see during your trip to London. It is conveniently accessible by car, coach or rail. There are exits for Legoland on both the M3 and M4 motorways, a coach service from Victoria Coach Station, and a shuttle bus and local rail line which links Legoland with Riverside Station in Windsor. It is also located only 8 miles from London’s Heathrow airport. If you are staying in any of the Heathrow Airport hotels, there is a good chance that you can catch a bus or train to Legoland, as most Heathrow hotels are convenient to the bus line. However you choose to get there, you owe it to your inner child to visit Legoland and recapture the magic of imagination.
